I found this book very informative on learning the various muscles that may come into play while working out. Since i am a Doctor of Chiropractic this will be a helpful book to memorize the various muscle groups in the human body.

Helps one focus on which muscles you should be working when doing an exercise and isolating it.

I have the first edition of this book and I can say without a doubt that this is the best illustrated and informative, in my opinion, weightlifting book on the market. 3rd edition is much the same as first edition. Great!! All of the muscles groups of the body are shown. All of the exercises are shown in detail and what muscles are affected by the exercise and reviewed. This is not a book of essays that go on and on and leave it up to your imagination to do the exercise. This book shows cable exercises as well as free weight. I work out at home and 90% of my exercises are based on this book. This book can be used by beginners and intermediate lifters. The way it is laid out, it allows for variation of the excurses. Unfortunately I purchased several other weightlifting books that left me "blah". I wish I would have seen and bought this book first. Mr. Delavier did a fine job with this book.

This book has numerous illustrations that show nearly every nook and cranny of the musculoskeletal system and I was impressed with the variety of exercises they depict.
