3 out of 5 stars IT WORKS!! Kinda. Needs modification   April 23, 2010
T. Broussard (Central, LA)
I've been having this for over a year. Placed transmitter at the end of my carport (about 50' away) and would work fine. Purchased second transmitter and placed it at the end of my driveway (about 150' away) that one would never set off receiver... too far away I guess, UNTIL. I had about 50ft of 18awg stranded and insulated wire and wrapped it neatly and tightly around an big old rusty chisel. Hammered chisel into post that has transmitter screwed to. Connected the "chisel antenna" to the antenna of the transmitter and who'd of thunk it... IT WORKS FINE NOW. I haven't had a false alarm. Most recent event, A car pulled in and set off alarm and then leaves. The alarm is connected to a dvr which has a camera pointed at the entrance of the driveway. Alarm goes off, I look at monitor and see nothing after playback I see the car. I'm very excited that it works now, too bad it needs a little help to function reliably. I still think I'm going to check out dakota alerts wma-3000 next. It has 4 relays instead of the one the chamberlain supplies. Hope this is helpful and gets out to those who purchased this and were very dissapointed with its range as I was.

1 out of 5 stars Chamberlain Driveway Alerts   April 19, 2010
MVP2448 (Galena, IL)
I purchased a Reporter RWA300R 4 years ago worked great, finally failed so I upgraded to a Chamberlain CWA2000 with 1/2 mile range. The CWA 2000 never worked so I ordered another RWA300R (now made by Chamberlain) it's range is about 50' not the advertised 1200'. I think Chamberlain screwed up a good product line, I would advise anyone looking for a drive alarm to keep looking!

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as used to be   April 7, 2010
T. MCMINN (Memphis, TN)
This used to be a great system; however, when I had to recently replace a transmitter it didn't perform as good as the older ones. The range on the new transmitter is less than a third of the older ones.

4 out of 5 stars Good item, but the instructions could be updated   March 7, 2010
D. Dodds (Lansing, MI)
We purchased and installed this unit last November. Per the instructions I installed it parallel to the driveway on a pole approximately three feet off of the ground. I would estimate it would work maybe 10% of the time and even occasionally pickup my neighbor driving into his driveway 100 feet away.

I starting playing with the angels the transmitter faced the driveway and found that facing it up the driveway at roughly 30 degrees works the best. Since I have done this it has picked up every vehicle pulling into my driveway. FYI facing the transmitter down the driveway may cause the unit to buzz every time a large vehicle drives down your street.

5 out of 5 stars Long Range, Good Battery life.   February 26, 2010
AJ
I have used this item for two years to alert me to possible intruders at the corners of my property. The range between the sensor and the base station is greater than other remote systems I have tried and the batteries last much longer than the others. Also, the dark green color makes it unnoticeable.
Two words of caution - 1. If you add additional sensors, be sure to get the correct model. For this base you need the PIR2-300 add on sensor. (There is also available a CWPIR add on sensor, and it will NOT work with this system. I made that mistake.)
2. To add an additional sensor to the base station, follow the (brief) instructions carefully.
