NICE product......July 30, 2010 yash I bought this product june 2010. It is working very well than other chargers which my friends bought for cheaper cost. It charges my laptop battery less time and had felxible wire so that u can turn it and use it any way.
No dice with Inspiron e1705July 29, 2010 loopghost I'm unsure if this is an issue with the charger not working at all or just with this laptop - but when plugged in, the green light does NOT light up. Regardless of if it's plugged into the laptop or not. It did fire up (green light came on) after 10 minutes and charged the laptop but it was buzzing really loud. Too loud to be ignored. Then it just stopped working all together. Shipping it back... oh, this was within the first day of receiving the charger.
AUTHENTIC!July 28, 2010 edel A REAL Dell AC adapter. It works and charges like it is supposed to unlike the other AC adapters sold here in Amazon.
Better Than the OriginalJuly 27, 2010 FlangeMechanism After two years of problematic service, the original adapter to my Dell Inspiron 1721 fell off a table, the green indicator light went out, and that was all she wrote.
A universal adapter from my local Best Buy costs $120 (which is like 1/6 of what I paid for this laptop in the first place), and a replacement PA-10 adapter from Dell is $65 or so, so this one looked like a bargain. And it totally is: I got a new-looking adapter that works as well as, if not better than, the original. I say better than because the original adapter was loose where it plugged into the back of the computer and always falling out, and for some reason the computer would periodically give me error messages about how it couldn't recognize the adapter type, and the processor would run sluggishly until I unplugged and replugged the adapter into the computer to get rid of the message. I've been using this adapter for a few weeks now and haven't had either of those problems. It also doesn't run any hotter than the original adapter.
In the interests of full disclosure, I do want to add one issue I had with the shipper: when I originally ordered this item, it arrived with just the adapter, not the separate cord that goes into the wall, thereby rendering it useless. Since this cord has three prongs and my original adapter had only two, I couldn't even use the cord from the old adapter.
Since Amazon doesn't allow exchanges on third-party items, the only thing I could do was order a new one and generate a return label for the one I had received. The second adapter arrived four days earlier than projected and with the wall cord present, so I'm thinking the first shipment was just a one-time oversight from someone at Westronics, and not evidence of a systematic problem.
I should also point out that, in contrast to the picture (which in fairness was submitted by a customer, not the seller), this adapter does not include the rubber belt to hold the cord in place during transport; however the adapter, being OEM, does has the groove in the side, so you can move the belt from your old adapter if you want.
Not the best but it works for nowJuly 25, 2010 Angela Patterson(SITKA, AK, US) Dell makes cheap, short lasting power adapters. This particular adapter works but has to be placed in a certain way to make sure the plug stays in (pretty annoying). The overall design of the adapter is poor. I'm hoping this one will last awhile.
